Interview with Sam Micco: publisher, supervisor and entrepreneur

One Micco is casino floor supervisor with over 30 years of experience in the gaming industry. One Micco is an importer–exporter of spiritual products . One Micco is a magazine publisher and one is a Screen Actors Guild member who recited in “Indecent proposal”.

Quite an interesting family, you would say! But then you discover all these people are one person: Sam Micco. Born in Pennsylvania, Sam moved to Vegas looking for opportunities, when the city was just a growing town with a golden future.

One of the first thing he said to me during this interesting interview? "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in our sails, explore, Dream, and discover." Wise words, which he admits came from Mark Twain.

Sam loves Las Vegas – who wouldn’t! – but he thinks the best LV days are already gone. It took a few minutes to move around the city, now it takes more than fifteen minute to go from the south of the Strip to Flamingo, where we met for the interview.

Another Sam’s saying? “There are only two kind of people in the world: the ones who are the Italian, and the ones who would be Italians!”. Yes, Sam has Italian heritage and he got married in a wonderful Rome church, famous among American people having “la dolce vita” in the Eternal City.

While reasearching for this interview, I found this interesting article about Sam by Elaine Sosa on http://www.sallys-place.com/travel/n_america/wus_las_vegas.htm :

--- Gaming Classes at the Las Vegas Hilton
[...]Most of the casinos in town offer gaming classes five days a week, a quick thirty-minute primer on roulette, craps, mini-baccarat, pai gow poker or blackjack, and the classes are usually free. Without a doubt the most enjoyable classes are at the Las Vegas Hilton, thanks to tuxedoed teacher Sam Micco. With Micco in charge, this certainly doesn't feel like school. A former craps dealer, Micco started teaching the nuances of gaming a dozen years ago. His tutorial is sprinkled with a liberal dose of humor, the East-coast kind that says "yea, you might not be a winnuh, but at least yer trying." Micco can make that most baffling of casino games, craps, seem like fun. And his shtick is free, although your "homework" afterwards might prove costly. [...]

Sam starred in “Indecent proposal”, published “Casino Games Magazine” which provided real gaming tips and not just pages of advertisements, and welcomed Vegas players as gaming instructor. But now, loyal to Twain’s saying, he is looking for new achievements.
Sam Micco is switching to another side of the gaming industry, working for gaming-related suppliers, so we wish him all the best and we look forward to keep you updated about his projects for Vegas!
